Social Psychosis: The Legacy of 9/11

The controversy surrounding 9/11 can be suppressed, ignored, mocked and marginalized but it will not go away. The events of that day were in themselves enough to confirm a false flag operation and the flood of information that followed in the weeks and months there after served as further confirmation.

I have read about 9/11, written about it, railed against its utterly despotic criminality and been left astounded at the amateurishness of those who conspired to bring about this false flag operation. Now, some what belatedly, I have read Barrie Swicker's book, Towers of Deception- The media cover-up of 9-11. While I consider myself reasonably well informed on the issue Swicker's book is a treasure trove of information, much I knew, more I didn't know. His book also rekindled by anger toward this hideous subversion

On the morning of 9/11 I awoke to a CBC news radio report that the WTC towers were under attack. I turned on the television and saw the endless recycling of the footage showing the attack on the towers. It had the air of pulp fiction as there in the heart of New York City, in the homelands of world's singular super power that spends hundreds of billions of dollars every year on national security was an uncontested attack taking place.

My first reaction was that the US government was at very least guilty of criminal negligence as a result of this incident. This quickly became a question of whether its involvement took the form of passive or active complicity?

As the towers came tumbling down I thought this was over statement. The timing a little too punctual and the rapidity of their total collapse appeared aided by some veiled handiwork. Their partial collapse would have been believable; their total collapse a little too incredible.

The next morning I read in the paper the attack had taken place in spite of numerous warnings from Arab governments, various officials and foreign embassies-including America's own. In spite of these warnings there was no heightened security- and most eerily-no apparent measures or attempts to thwart this attack. As time pushed 9/11 into perspective the litany of unanswered questions and grotesque inconsistencies became more incriminating. Every anniversary of the event marks another year of denial.

In my younger days I was a ceramic artist and this involved heating earth minerals to high temperatures. In doing so, you acquire a good knowledge of the refractory qualities (inherent resistance to heat) of various materials. In melting or fusing materials it is not temperature alone that does the job, it is time as well- the time-temperature factor. In other words to melt a material it must be held at a given temperature for a specified period of time; referred to as " soaking."

Steel is a very refractory material. To distort its form it must be red hot and to melt it requires a much higher temperature and soaking. The fires at the WTC towers were no where near hot enough to affect the towers core steel structure. The quantity and color of the smoke indicated these were cold "dirty" fires where only partial combustion was present and no where near the searing heat required to affect the buildings very substantial steel core.

Coincidentally, about a year prior to 9/11 I was browsing on the internet and came across a documentary on the building of the WTC towers. It was very compelling as building the towers was a great engineering and architectural achievement. One of the most noteworthy items was the massive steel work that formed the buildings core. To think that two aircraft could knock out these colossal matrixes of steel columns and girders or that the fires could degrade them to the point of collapse is simply pure fantasy.

More recently I happened across a U Tube video where a structural engineer compared the aircraft hitting the towers to a fly( a more apt analogy I think would be a bird) hitting a screen door- it might make a hole in the door but the door is not going to come down. He was applying basic physics: allowing for the mass of the building, the mass of the aircraft, and their speed at impact; the building wasn't going anywhere. These buildings were over built to survive such impacts and under normal circumstances they surely would have.

Also from U Tube there is now an association of 1200 architects and engineers who also know their basic physics and are calling for a further investigation of 9/11.

Bringing down the towers was an equally brilliant piece of reverse engineering and a great spectacle but to try and pass it off as the work of high-flying terrorists is simply insanity. During the construction of the towers prefabricated steel work was delivered to the site on a rigorous daily schedule and put in place. In the replete demolition of the towers these same components could only have been blown apart by explosives into the neat easily disposable thirty foot sections that were hauled away. Swicker and others have noted how expediently and illegally (destruction of evidence) the rubble was made to disappear.

While the perpetrators of this event had an utterly sinister intent their execution of the event set a new standard for amateurism. That all three towers (including WTC7) came down in such a timely seemingly pre-scheduled manner their destruction so replete, and folding so cleanly into their own footprint indicates a controlled demolition. The perpetrators forgot that anybody who watches television has seen controlled demolitions and know how neatly buildings can be made to fold in on themselves. The controlled demolition of buildings is part of our culture of violence and the downing of the WTC towers merely out strips all others in terms of profound political and social implications.

As the actual execution of the event was so utterly and transparently incompetent and the ensuing cover-up a vast tapestry of lies and deceptions why then is there such an unbreachable wall of denialism regarding this event?

The answer comes in our nature to only entertain "truths of convenience," and to stay within "comfort zones." To entertain the notion that 9/11 is a false flag operation is to implicate government not as our guardian but as the enemy and this for anybody is a soul destroying realization. That a government would deliberately kill its own citizens is diabolical but world history is littered with such depravity (see Stalin and Hitler as masters of the trade). The first decade of the 21st century has seen a pandemic of moral and political depravity with to many leaders dedicated to pathological lying. We have every reason to believe they are also lying about 9/11.

9/11 ushered in an era of continuous warfare, hyper-militarism, the fraudulent war on terror and the indiscriminate use of torture. We are seeing the systematic denegration of good government, democratic values, human rights, the rule of law and good old common decency.

The post 9/11 world is itself further confirmation that the conspirators implemented their "New Pearl Harbor" to carry out their despicable agenda. 9/11 was a fraudulent historical punctuation point staged to manufacture new enemies, to justify a neo-imperialist agenda, the rampant militarism and continuous warfare required to pursue this agenda.

The past few decades have seen the corporatization of the media such that very few, very powerful corporations control what we see, hear and read. Corporatism has hi-jacked the relationship between peoples and their governments. The public good takes a back seat to corporatism and political elites are all too willing to be courtesans to corporatism: In other words, a fundamental political betrayal. The corporate mainstream media has become propagandist and defender of a malicious status quo. As the activist " hummux" points out in Swicker's book "being the media" is the way forward. As the mainstream media has betrayed a sacred trust there is a cavernous void to be filled. Fortunately the internet is transnational and well endowed with authoritative sites. So too is there a continent-spanning formidable body of dissident literature. We can no longer read the mainstream media for what it says but what it isn't saying- as it retreats into its "towers of deception" and sinks into irrelevance.

Like the perpetrators of 9/11 the mainstream media suffers a certain senility, forgetting that news and opinion is now available from a multitude of sources. What they refuse to publish or broadcast some one else is out there doing the job for them. The one newspaper town is long gone and propaganda quickly becomes transparently self-revealing.

Swicker addresses the issue of the Left-wing gatekeepers- notable left wing intellectuals and media types who either reject 9/11 as a false flag operation or even if it was, believe it to be of no importance. Most notable among these is the eminent godfather of dissidence Noam Chomsky. Like Swicker, I have great admiration for Chomsky. Over decades he has been an unrelenting critic of an endlessly corrupt US foreign policy. Like Swicker though, I am totally perplexed by Chomsky's denialism.

One reason we are in this epic mess is that over the years as the far Right came to control the political agenda in America the Left failed to mount a real alternative or anything resembling real opposition . As historian Tony Judt pointed out liberals of the Left too often serve as "useful idiots" to the right wing agenda. Michael Ignatieff, presently leader of the Liberal Party of Canada was one such idiot in his willingness to condone torture during his days as Harvard professor of human rights. Now there are other luminaries of the left willing to be useful idiots in denying the conspicuous truth that 9/11 was a false flag operation and a heinous act of treason.

The attack of 9/11 not only ushered in the fraudulent war on terror it was also the advent of the Age of Denialism. The denialism associated with 9/11 became epidemic. As America and its apple polishing allies-namely a vastly disgraced NATO-pursue the new fascism the really critical issues of the day are being ignored. We face global warming, the end of oil, global poverty, environmental degradation- the very real issues of the day- yet these are ignored or stonewalled by a comatose mainstream media and sorely corrupted and cowardly political elites. Where there should be a robust multilateralism to address global issues there is the pall of a ruinous totalitarianism griping Western civilization.

The fraudulent and totally disgraced war on terror must now be the war on tyranny, a war on the home front where the enemy is within; where accountability and integrity must be restored. We began the 21st century by killing faith in government and this faith must be restored.

Swicker heads the preface to his book with two very compelling quotations. The first from Will Rogers:

It isn't what we don't know that gives us trouble; it's what we know that ain't so.

We are at the point in this pathetic human drama that too many people know that there is just too much that just "ain't so." We have come a long way from the era of Will Rogers and what "ain't so" becomes quickly detectable.

The second comes from British philosopher Bertrand Russell:

Never lie to yourself.

This primal little gem of wisdom was his personal First Commandment. It applies on an individual basis as well as collectively to societies. Societies should not lie or allow themselves to be lied to- especially the Big Lie, like 9/11 so utterly subversive and devastating. The inept perpetrators of 9/11 failed to consider that the mass psychosis inflicted by that false flag event would eventually have to be addressed. As long as the lie persists the psychosis deepens and destroys us.

9/11 was shoddy theatrics, long on audacity and short on credibility. It is time to put aside fear, trauma, truths of convenience and insist the real truth be told.

The first decade of the 21st century has been a giant misstep for mankind. The second decade must see a momentous course correction, returning to progressive values and squarely addressing the pressing issues of our times. The Age of Denial must end abruptly as it began.
